What Dermal Fillers Actually Do

Dermal fillers are gel-based injectables, most commonly made from hyaluronic acid — a substance your body already produces naturally to keep skin plump and hydrated. As you age, your natural hyaluronic acid production slows down, which is a big part of why cheeks hollow, lips thin, and lines deepen around the nose and mouth.

Filler injections replace that lost volume directly. Unlike Botox, which relaxes muscles to soften movement-related wrinkles, fillers add structure and fullness. That’s why the two are often used together: Botox for expression lines, fillers for volume loss.

Results are visible immediately after treatment, and most patients see the final settled result within one to two weeks, once any minor swelling resolves.

Areas We Treat

Skin Rejuvenation Filler in Savannah, GA

Every face ages differently, so your treatment plan is built around what you actually need — not a one-size-fits-all package. Common treatment areas include:

  • Lips — added volume, definition, and symmetry, from a subtle enhancement to a fuller shape
  • Cheeks — restored volume and lift for a more contoured, rested appearance
  • Nasolabial folds — softened lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Marionette lines — smoothed lines running from the mouth to the chin
  • Under-eye hollows — reduced shadowing and a less tired look
  • Jawline and chin — added definition and improved facial balance

During your consultation, we’ll look at your face as a whole and recommend the areas that will make the most visible difference — sometimes that’s one area, sometimes it’s a combination.

The Filler We Use, by Brand

The Fillers We Use

Not every filler is right for every area or every goal. During your consultation, Savannah will recommend the specific product that fits your anatomy and the result you want. Here’s a quick overview of the FDA-approved fillers we work with most often:

Juvéderm®

The most widely used hyaluronic acid filler family, with formulations built for different needs — from subtle lip enhancement to deeper volume correction in the cheeks and midface.

Restylane®

A precise, versatile line often chosen for lips and finer lines, known for a soft, natural feel once it settles.

Voluma®

Formulated specifically for cheek volume — a thicker gel designed to lift and contour rather than just fill fine lines.

Belotero®

A softer, more flexible filler that works well in thin-skinned areas like under the eyes and around fine lip lines, where a heavier product could look lumpy.

Every product on this list is FDA-approved. We’ll walk through which one fits your goals during your consultation — there’s no one-size- fits-all answer, and that’s exactly why we don’t skip the consult step.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

A few days before:

– Avoid blood thinners where possible — aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E — for 3-5 days prior, if your doctor approves stopping them

– Skip alcohol for 24-48 hours before your appointment to reduce bruising risk

– Arrive with clean skin, no makeup, in the treatment area

In the first 24-48 hours after:

– Ice the treated area in short intervals if swelling occurs

– Skip strenuous exercise, saunas, and heavy sun exposure for a day – Avoid pressing on or massaging the area unless we’ve specifically told you to

 – Mild bruising or swelling is normal and typically resolves within a few days to a week

You’ll leave your appointment with written aftercare instructions specific to the area(s) you had treated.

Pricing: Filler pricing depends on the product and number of syringes used for your goals. We’ll give you a clear, itemized price during your free consultation — no guessing, no surprise costs.

How Long Do Results Last?

Most hyaluronic acid fillers last 6 to 18 months, depending on the product used, the area treated, and how quickly your body metabolizes it. Lip filler tends to break down faster than filler placed in the cheeks, for example. We’ll talk through realistic timelines for your specific treatment plan during your consultation, and let you know when a touch-up appointment makes sense.

Lips Dermal Fillers in Savannah, GA

Are You a Good Candidate?

Dermal fillers are a good option if you’re seeing early-to-moderate volume loss and want a non-surgical way to refresh your appearance. During your consultation, we’ll also flag if fillers aren’t the right fit — for example, if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection near the treatment area, or have certain allergies. We’d rather tell you honestly if another treatment (or no treatment) makes more sense than sell you something that isn’t right for you.

FAQs

Will I look “overdone” or fake?

No — and this is something we talk through at every consultation. Savannah’s approach favors subtle, proportional results over maximum volume. We start conservative; you can always add more at a follow-up, but it’s much harder to walk back an over-filled look. If a request doesn’t fit your face or goals, we’ll tell you honestly rather than just doing what’s asked.

What if I don’t like the results?

Hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvéderm, Restylane, Belotero, Voluma) can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if you’re unhappy with the outcome. This is one of the reasons HA fillers are a lower-risk starting point for first-time patients.

Is the consultation really free, and is there pressure to buy?

Yes, consultations are free and there’s no obligation. We’ll walk through your goals, explain your options and pricing honestly, and you decide from there — including deciding that fillers aren’t the right fit, which we’ll tell you too if that’s the case.
